Each year approximately 10% of total world production of iron and steel is rejected as a result of the corrosive processes. The hot-dip galvanization process gives excellent results for both looks and long lasting economical resistance against the aggressive atmospheric effects, which makes it the best way to protect against corrosion.

Prototip’s factory for dip galvanizing of steel is located in Kicevo.  This facility has 120 employees and professional staff for execution of the manufacturing process.

The facility covers an area of 36.000m2 out of which 4.000m2 are the production halls. The dimension of the galvanization bath enables treatment of materials with length up to 12m’ and has the following dimensions 12500mmx1200x1800mm, according to all the valid international standards and rules. Large portion (90%) of the production is intended for export.

The annual production capacity of the factory is 5.000 - 10.000 tons. The supplies warehouse has capacity of 10.000 tons.

The technology for the mechanical processing is provided by FICEP - Italy. The production department is equipped with 4 automatic production lines capable of performing cutting, drilling and boring operations. The production lines can process sections from L 30x30mm up to L 160x160mm. For larger sections, another technology is applied.

Within the factory operates the modern galvanizing production department, which uses equipment from the german company BERG.

The factory manufactures:
- Transmission line poles for transferring electrical power up top 400kV.
- Antenna towers.
- Spotlight poles.
- Constructions for transformer stations.
- Various steel constructions of L, U and I sections for industrial plants, halls and power plants.
- Various types of street light poles.
- Highway bumpers.

The decision for the zinc coating thickness is made according to the ISO 1461 standard, which describes the general demands for the quality of the coating: the visual look of the coating, the thickness, taking control samples, dealing with the defects that can occur during the hot-dip galvanization process, adhesion and such.

For determining the zinc coating thickness is used a magnetic reader according the ISO 2178 standard and the ravage method according the ISO 1461:1999 standard.
